The Ying Quartet defines its mission as twofold: to make classical music a relevant and vital part of American culture in all its diversity and to do so with the highest standards of artistic integrity. The acclaimed ensemble will perform at Spivey Hall on Sunday, April 21, with the award-winning double bassist Xavier Foley.

“City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with Foley, along with Phillip Ying, one of the quartet’s founding members.

Ying said, “The opportunity to share music, live and through other means, is something to cherish.”
