Travel has drastically changed due to the pandemic. Travis Swann Taylor created a book called “111 Places in Atlanta That You Must Not Miss” to help residents and non-residents see the treasures that the city has to offer. He joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes via Zoom to talk about this new guidebook.

Taylor is also the creator behind the tourism blog “Wanderlust ATLANTA.”

“I had lived in Atlanta for fifteen years. Moved to D.C. for nine. And now I’ve been back for ten years. When I first moved back, I started writing the blog just to re-familiarize myself with the city, and it was so much fun that I’m still doing it,” said Taylor.

Some of the places he writes about in the book were taken from his blog, but he also added many new Atlanta gems.

“We’re an interesting, rich community. We’re not just Coca-Cola or the Aquarium or other major tourist destinations. Those are amazing, but there is so much more that the city has to offer,” Taylor said. “There’s interesting stories, fascinating histories, people you never would have known were apart of Atlanta’s history. We’re a very complex, international city with lots of amazing stories.”

In the book, Taylor writes about Atlanta restaurants, unique stores, landmarks, great photography locations and more. He wanted to make sure there was a combination of both popular and lesser-known places.

He will give a virtual book talk with the Dekalb History Center on Nov. 24 at noon.
