Atlanta, GA – Outgoing House Speaker Glenn Richardson choked back tears Dec. 17th as he gave a farewell speech to his Republican colleagues. Last month, Richardson disclosed he had attempted suicide because of the breakup of his marriage. Soon after, he resigned amid allegations from his ex-wife that he had an affair with a lobbyist. Richardson addressed the House Republican caucus just before it was announced they had nominated Rep. David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to succeed him. A condensed version follows.
