After Steady Decline, Atlanta Gas Prices Increase

For the first time since April, Atlanta gas prices have spiked. Triple A spokesperson Jessica Brady says several factors have pushed oil prices higher, which resulted in higher gas prices.

“Right now, metro Atlanta’s average is $3.26, which is about 8 cents more than last week,” Brady says, “And Georgia’s price right now is $3.21, which is also eight cents more than last week.”

Brady says optimism about Europe’s new debt agreement, concern new sanctions might cause Iran to block global oil supply, and a labor strike in Norway all affected the price of oil. But, she expects gas prices to even out in the short-term.
