The Atlanta Dogwood Festival always attracts a crowd, and this year there were around 200,000 people. While many people said that safety issues at the festival never crossed their mind, there were others, like 50 year old Christy Biddy who did take some time to consider coming.

“To be honest with you, it was in the back of my mind. You know, just be a little more cautious about what’s going on around me, but I’m going to go ahead and live my life like I normally would”.

Brian Hill, executive director of the Dogwood festival said that there haven’t been many changes to this year’s security plan.

“One always has to be aware of it. One never takes it lightly and whether Boston had happened or not, we would’ve taken the same measures the same procedures”.

Extra police officers were on hand, however no major incidents were reported at the festival.
