Angelique Kidjo talks about navigating the pandemic, music, activism
Four-time Grammy-winning singer Angelique Kidjo says that amid navigating the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, music has given her the strength to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“Music has been the force that drives me to believe that tomorrow is going to be better and we have to believe that it’s going to be better, each one of us has to do its share for us to come together and play music,” said Kidjo.
The singer, widely known as the “Queen of African Music,” was a guest on Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look.”
She talked with program host Rose Scott about several topics including the process of creating her latest album “Mother Nature”, life lessons she’s learned from her parents and the power that all women have.
“Women have a different vision about the world because our focus is always how do we prepare the future for our children,” explained Kidjo, who is a longtime activist for women and girls’ rights and ambassador for UNICEF Goodwill.
During the conversation, Kidjo also talked about her tour and her upcoming performance at the Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State.
