In the late 1960s, Allan Ripans was a newcomer to Atlanta with a corporate job, a mortgage, and a family, including two small children.
He also had a lifelong dream.
For his recent 80th birthday, his daughter Holly Witten invited him to StoryCorps to ask how he decided to put it all on the line, in order to go after his dream job.
