1,100 Jobs Coming to Clayton County

More than 1,100 jobs are coming to Clayton County.

Chime Solutions is an Atlanta-based human resource, business process outsourcing firm. The company plans to bring more than 1,100 jobs to Morrow in Clayton County and repurpose a former J.C. Penney inside Southlake Mall.

Governor Nathan Deal says the announcement comes in a county where the unemployment rate has greatly exceeded the state as a whole.

“This announcement should bring hope and opportunity to that part of our state. We think it will be a precursor to opportunity that will follow soon behind.”

Founder Shelly Wilson says she chose Clayton County because she believes it has the needed workforce nearby and is a good place for the company to expand its reach.

“We did a lot of research. We went around to several different places and felt that the amount of jobs we could bring to Clayton County is beneficial and is a good place to get started.”

Wilson says Southlake’s parking capacity and square footage made the mall an attractive location.

The company is expected to receive the maximum in state tax incentives, which could amount to more than 4-million dollars if the company brings all of the jobs it claims. Chime Solutions is expected to offer positions ranging from entry level with starting salaries of at least $10 per hour through senior management.

The company is located in an area targeted by the Aerotropolis Alliance. The Aerotropolis Alliance is an effort to bring more economic development around Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Chime Solutions says it hopes to open its doors in the county about a year from now.
