John Smoltz Inducted Into the Baseball Hall Of Fame
John Smoltz has made it into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Baseball Writers Association of America elected the former Atlanta Brave on Tuesday along with fellow pitchers Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez. Former Houston Astros second baseman Craig Biggio will also be inducted into the 2015 class this spring.
Smoltz is the first pitcher in Major League Baseball history with 200 career wins as a starting pitcher and 150 career saves as a reliever.
Known for his toughness, power fastball and devastating split-finger pitch, Smoltz posted double-digit wins in 10 of his first 11 seasons in Atlanta, while winning the 1996 National League Cy Young Award and helping the Braves to their only World Series championship in 1995.
