Progress And Challenges In The AIDS Fight: A Talk With AID Atlanta’s CEO

Not that many years ago, an AIDS diagnosis was considered an automatic death sentence.  But over the years, improvements in drugs, transmission prevention, and therapies have allowed many patients to live as if their disease is a chronic illness ─ not curable yet, but manageable.

As a result, AID Atlanta has had to overhaul what it does; treating not just AIDS symptoms, but other medical problems its clients have ─ diabetes or pulmonary disease, for instance.  That’s meant a new and expanded facility, but it also raises questions for the future.  WABE’s Denis O’Hayer spoke with AID Atlanta CEO Dr. Jose Rodriguez-Diaz.Broadcast Version
