Kennesaw State University Gets To ‘Bloody Pulp’ Of Comic Book History
The movie “Ant-Man,” starring Paul Rudd, recently wrapped filming here in Atlanta. It’s expected in theaters this summer.
Comic book fans also are anticipating the May release of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
While the comics industry continues to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office, some artists have taken this wave of popularity to explore some of its origins.
This past October, Synchronicity Theater staged a production of “Lasso of Truth,” which is based on the life of the creator of Wonder Woman.
Now Kennesaw State University’s theater department is bringing a new work to the stage. It’s called “Bloody Pulp,” and it examines the rise and the collapse of comic books in the 1950s. WABE’s Myke Johns spoke to playwright Charles Parrott and co-director Jim Davis.
