State Audit: Georgia’s Regional Commissions Need To Improve

A new state audit is questioning some of the policies of Georgia’s 12 regional commissions.

Each of those commissions, including the ARC in Atlanta, provides a range of services to cities and counties.

But the state audit says they need to improve customer service and there’s an issue with travel expenses.

“I don’t see anywhere in this report that makes me feel like that the state is just negligent and letting people go willy-nilly and spend money,” said Republican state Rep. Jimmy Pruett, who chairs the state committee that oversees the commissions.

Pruett said any changes to the commissions wouldn’t be major. Instead, they would just be tweaks.
