As 2016 approaches, we are asking WABE reporters what trends they plan to follow in 2016.

Reporter Tasnim Shamma says she will be watching Georgia’s growing economy.

University of Georgia economists say Georgia’s gross domestic product will grow at 3.5 percent, almost a full percentage higher than the nation’s average.

“So that means we’re doing a lot better than the nation overall,” she says. “But we’re also going to see job growth slowing, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We’ll see more high-tech, high-skilled paying jobs and that’s good for the Atlanta area.”

We will be checking in with more WABE reporters in the coming days to hear about other trends in education, politics and immigration.
