Could Atlanta soon implement an e-bike rebate program?
An e-bike resembles a regular bicycle, with its batteries and electric motor integrated into the bike’s frame. Enthusiasts see e-bikes on national park trails as a great thing, but some traditional riders and environmentalists see big problems ahead.

Denver, Boston and several other cities in the U.S. have an e-bike rebate program—and Atlanta could soon follow suit.
On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Post 2 at-large councilmember Matt Westmoreland, who supports proposed legislation to start an e-bike rebate program in Atlanta, told program host Rose Scott that the city has increased transportation costs and the program could help residents save money and provide climate-safe transportation.
Westmoreland further explained that on average, Atlanta residents spend $11,000 a year on transportation costs— and that he hopes that the e-bike rebate program will be launched in spring 2023.
