Only 3.1 Percent Of Metro Atlanta Commuters Use Transit

Atlanta Regional Commission

About 3.1 percent of metro Atlanta commuters used transit in 2013, according to data from the U.S. Census compiled by the Atlanta Regional Commission and Neighborhood Nexus. Even fewer people walk or bicycle to their destination.

Proximity to a transit stop or activity area could be one reason why more people don’t use transit, walk or bike to their destination. Safety could also be a factor in people’s decisions not to walk or bike on their commute. From 2012 to 2014, approximately 17 percent of all traffic fatalities in Atlanta involved pedestrians.
