“The New York Times” estimated that somewhere between 700 and 900 productions of the musical “Annie” are performed each year in the United States.

Most of those productions, however, do not feature a sizeable chunk of the original crew, including director and lyricist Martin Charnin, or real dogs from rescue shelters.

That’s the case for the Annie production touring through Atlanta this weekend. The tour is in its third year, and next month marks 40 years of Annie since its Broadway debut in 1977.

Annie” runs this weekend at the Fox Theatre with shows Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

You can hear from cast members Erin Fish, who plays Miss Hannigan, and Michael Santora, who plays Rooster Hannigan, in the interview above with WABE’s Lois Reitzes.
