Hough is in Atlanta this weekend, performing on the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s all-Rachmaninov program. That will featured Rachmaninov’s “Vocalise” and “Symphonic Dances,” and Hough will performance the “Piano Concerto No. 1.”

“He was arguably the greatest pianist of the 20th century,” Hough said. “He knew how to write for the instrument just so wonderfully, and it’s a joy to play this music even though it’s a constant challenge to keep up with his level of pianistic genius.”

Those concerts are Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. at Symphony Hall.
