Atlanta BeltLine Resident Moves Due To Increasing Rents
Recently, Laura Wright had to move from her apartment near the BeltLine after her landlord doubled her rent overnight.
Fewer than 1,000 affordable housing units were created along the BeltLine as of February of this year. That’s according to a report released earlier this year which studied home price trends in the area.
Dan Immergluck, a researcher at Georgia Tech, co-authored the study. While he focused on home prices, rising costs along the BeltLine have also affected renters.
Laura Wright, a millennial, moved into an apartment near the BeltLine five years ago when she first arrived to Atlanta. Her apartment was located in the Highlands neighborhood in Northeast Atlanta. Recently, Wright had to move after her landlord doubled her rent overnight.
