Sen. Isakson To Hold Telephone Town Hall Meeting Tuesday

Emory University political science professor Andra Gillespie says she’s impressed.

“There are a lot of Republican members of Congress who are, perhaps, gun-shy about participating in these debates because there’s certainly been a lot of opposition that’s been mobilized to attend these town hall meetings,” Gillespie said.

Tim Denson, who directs the left-wing grassroots activist group “Athens for Everyone,” credits Isakson for holding a town hall meeting — even if it is by phone.

“It is, at least, a step here. We’re seeing a lack of those steps at all from any of the other senators right now who are basically hiding from their constituents while they discuss this health care bill.”

The telephone town hall starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday. People can participate by registering on Isakson’s website.
