From An Early Age, Her Fight For Gender Equality ‘Persisted’

StoryCorps Atlanta

Listen

Seventy-year-old Jan Pratt was born in 1947 and raised in small mill towns throughout Lancashire, England.

She had no interest in what traditional careers were deemed appropriate for women at the time, yet as a female, there were obstacles and glass ceilings. But, as we hear her tell her daughter, Franny Mulderig, she persisted.

This story was recorded in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, which hosts Atlanta’s StoryCorps Booth.
