New York City-based writer and cook Lauren Wilson has immersed herself in zombies for over seven years. The result has been two cookbooks that double as survival guides.

Her first, “The Art of Eating Through the Zombie Apocalypse,” came out in 2014, and she was recently tapped to create a cookbook for the popular zombie series “The Walking Dead,” which is shot here in Georgia.

The result is “The Walking Dead: the Official Cookbook and Survival Guide,” which came out on Insight Editions earlier this month. Along with tips on water collection, foraging, scavenging and buildings fires, the book is packed with yummy recipes from Squirrel Piquante to the West Georgia Correctional Facility Breakfast of Champions.

Wilson spoke with “City Lights” producer Gabbie Watts about what’s the best thing and best way to eat during the apocalypse.
