On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Art,” local artists share insights into their influences, processes and experiences in town. This edition features designer, sketcher, carpenter and painter OSKIADE Jaleel.
“My artwork consists of vibrant colors. I have a pattern that I put in a lot of my works that are called ‘Jelly Shapes’ and I have a character sometimes that I put in work as well. And these are found all the way from wood cut-out panels, a little bit of carpentry all the way to murals and street art. I even do studio practice, so I paint canvasses and all that good stuff.”
As a child, Jaleel’s brother taught him how to draw Mickey Mouse, which gave him the confidence to pursue art in high school.
