On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Art,” local artists share insights into their influences, processes, and experiences in town. This edition features abstract artist Vanna Black.

“I do a lot of landscape paintings with acrylic on wood panel and that is my favorite medium to paint,” says Black. “I’m looking to explore other mediums such as embroidery and spray painting.”

An Atlanta native raised in the Ormewood Park neighborhood, Black got started in art as a child and drifted away from in high school, but in college, taking graphic design led her back to her love of painting.

Black will be featured in an exhibit at Binders Limelight Gallery put on by ATL Art Pals until Nov. 1. You can find more information about Vanna Black’s work on Instagram here
