A Tour Bus Driver Looks Back On A Life On The Road

Like many people, Phines Bell, Jr. started out small and gradually worked his way up.

In his case, he started behind the wheel of a school bus before becoming a motor-coach driver for some of the biggest acts in the world, everyone from the touring cast of Phantom of the Opera, to Tammy Wynette to the Wu-Tang Clan.

In the StoryCorps Atlanta booth, he recalls some life and times from 30-plus years behind the wheel – and even a time or two when his eldest son would join him on the road to catch his favorite hip-hop artists.
