Summer is fast approaching, and along with trips to the beach, outdoor festivals and picnics in Grant Park, it’s time for concerts that take place throughout Atlanta.

Two of hip-hop’s biggest names from either side of the country — one from right at home in Atlanta and the other from the left coast — will be making tour stops in the city Friday.

Atlanta’s own — and one-half of the legendary duo Outkast — Big Boi will be closing his Daddy Fat Saxxx Tour at the Tabernacle on Friday night, and Los Angeles native Nipsey Hussle will be at the Buckhead Theatre for two show dates on his Victory Lap Tour on Friday and Saturday. The Saturday show was added late after interest and ticket sales for the Friday show rose steadily.

With the Atlanta Braves on the road for a three-game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, it looks like the star power will be:

Big Boi – Daddy Fat Staxxx Tour, Friday, 8 p.m. At Tabernacle

The Daddy Fat Saxxx Tour is on its last leg after traveling the country this year with Big Boi’s third studio album “Boomiverse,” the legendary Atlanta rapper’s latest work, being the focal point.

The tour has been to St. Louis; Little Rock, Arkansas; New Orleans; Jacksonville, Florida; Orlando, Florida; Pensacola, Florida; Tampa, Florida; Charlotte, North Carolina; Memphis, Tennessee; and Birmingham, Alabama, to name a few stops, before making it back to where it all started for Big Boi, also known as Antwan Patton.

The album, released June 16, 2017, features a number of local artists, like fellow Atlantans Killer Mike and Jeezy on the hit single “Kill Jill” and “Da Next Day” featuring spoken word artist and regular Outkast and Goodie Mob contributor Big Rube.

Other musical guests on the album include legends Snoop Dogg on “Get Wit It” and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine on “Mic Jack.” The odds of these folks making it to the stage at the Tabernacle show are slim, but, with it being the last show date of the tour, you never know with Big Boi’s connections.

Ticket prices start at $50 and can be purchased via the usual online ticket broker sites. The Tabernacle is located at 152 Luckie St. N.W.

Nipsey Hussle – Victory Lap Tour, Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m. At The Buckhead Theatre

Los Angeles-based rapper Nipsey Hussle, 32, is making his first tour date in Atlanta on Friday. The Victory Lap Tour has only been running for a few days, and already the buzz around Hussle and his first major label studio album have forced the tour dates to be extended, including an extra night in Atlanta.

According to concert website ihustle.com, the added Saturday show is sold out (with the exception of VIP tickets), so the Friday night show might be the only chance for Atlantans to see the part-Eritrean, part-West Coast rapper perform hits like “Last Time That I Checked” featuring fellow L.A. rapper YG and “Dedication” featuring platinum-selling Pulitzer Prize winner and Compton native Kendrick Lamar.

The Victory Lap Tour has already made stops in New York at Irving Plaza, at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland, and at the House of Blues in Boston, with his tour dates in Atlanta rounding out the week before heading west to Houston; Dallas; Denver; Tempe, Arizona; Los Angeles (where Rae Sremmurd and others will open for him at Staples Center on June 23); San Francisco; and Seattle.

Tickets for Friday’s show start at $30 and can be purchased at the Buckhead Theatre box office or online through Live Nation. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the main floor being used for general admission and the balcony used for reserved seating.

The Buckhead Theatre is located at 3110 Roswell Road.
