On Tuesday, Georgia’s Secretary of State Brian Kemp upset Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle in the Republican runoff for governor. Kemp will face Democrat Stacey Abrams in November.

Before the runoff, the Republican Governors’ Association produced an ad tying Abrams to national Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi and calling her a “radical liberal.”

It stands to reason that Georgia Democratic Party Chairman Dubose Porter sees it differently. He’s convinced Abrams will energize voters to show up at the polls.

“There’s such a wonderful contrast between Stacey Abrams, who is one of the smartest, most capable people ever to run for governor, and someone who’s done an awful job as secretary of state,” Porter said.
