Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris Remix ‘Welcome To Atlanta’ For The Falcons

Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris’ iconic song “Welcome to Atlanta” is now a rallying cry for the Atlanta Falcons.

The Atlanta native rappers remixed their 2002 rap hit to evoke the “toughness, unity, style and resilience” of the city and the Falcons ahead of the 2018 football season, according to a press release.

“Welcome to Atlanta means so many things, but it can mean different things to different people. It’s really subjective. For some it’s about the Southern hospitality, some it’s about the food, some it’s the history, and some it’s the sports teams, ”Ludacris said in the press release. “Just know that Atlanta is a growing city. It’s a city that is growing faster than any other in the United States and, just like the Falcons, we’re here to compete.”

Falcons players, such as Austin Hooper, Calvin Ridley and Desmond Trufant, appear in the remix’s music video that has the hook, “Welcome to Atlanta, where the Falcons play.”

“Atlanta and the Falcons basically go hand in hand. We’ve always been a city that people tried to count out of being a city,” Dupri said in the press release. “I remember when I first started making music, there use to be these t-shirts that used to say ‘London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago’…so I feel like Atlanta has always had this attitude about people treating us like we’re not a city. As the city has grown in music, film, technology…people start to take note.

“But until we win a Super Bowl, people here are going to feel that way.”

The Falcons start the season on Sept. 6 with a match against the Philadelphia Eagles.
