Brunch-goers Can Get Mimosas Earlier In Atlanta Starting Sunday

Bars in Atlanta will start serving mimosas and sangrias sooner on Sundays starting this weekend.
The Georgia “brunch bill,” or Senate Bill 17 will go into effect on Sunday, Dec. 2 for Atlanta and Alpharetta, according to the Georgia Restaurant Association.
Already, Atlanta’s neighboring cities, such as Austell, Brookhaven, Decatur, Douglasville, Dunwoody, Smyrna, Roswell and Marietta, have allowed alcohol sales on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Kennesaw and Powder Springs have decided to bring the bill into effect tentatively on Dec. 9. Then, DeKalb County will follow suit on Jan. 6.
SB 17 was presented to Georgia’s Senate in January of last year. This year, the bill was passed by the Senate in February and the House in March before being signed by Gov. Nathan Deal in May.
Citizens in cities and counties around Georgia voted to pass the referendum for Sunday alcohol sales to begin on 11 a.m. instead of 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 6. Start dates are decided by the local municipalities.
