Atlanta City Council Cracks Down On Car Booting
Council members unanimously passed an ordinance Monday requiring more extensive background checks and clear identification of booting company executives and their employees.
The Atlanta City Council is imposing stricter regulations on the vehicle booting industry while improving the design of private parking signs around the city.
Council members unanimously passed an ordinance Monday requiring more extensive background checks and clear identification of booting company executives and their employees. The ordinance is due to take effect upon Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms‘ signature, while the new signs must be installed by April 1.
The measure also requires a booting company representative to arrive where a vehicle has been booted within one hour of being contacted by the owner or driver of the vehicle if the contact is made between the hours of 5:01 a.m.and 9:59 p.m. The response time is reduced to 45 minutes if the call is made between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
