Black Panther’s Wakanda Sparks Community Conversations On Intraracial Relationships

The 2018 film “Black Panther” was not only a blockbuster at the box office, but culturally as well. The fictitious world of Wakanda has settled fondly in the hearts of fans.
The film has also sparked discussions about the complicated relationship between black Americans and Africans living in America. To address this, The Auburn Avenue Research Library is hosting a community conversation called: After Wakanda Part Two: Towards Bridging the Middle Passage.
Lois sat down with panelist and director of the Baton Foundation, Anthony Knight and the event’s moderator Eric Bomba-ire to discuss these tensions.
The community conversation will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Auburn Avenue Research Library. The event will begin with four panelists of different backgrounds giving their stories, then they will open it up to the audience.
