Happy Birthday, Kermit The Frog!

John Ludwig, left, talks about The Center for Puppetry Arts with Vincent Anthony at the Atlanta History Center.

StoryCorps Atlanta

This week an old friend of ours turned 64 years old. You might remember him.

He’s small.

Talk’s kind’a funny.

And he’s green.

Yes, Kermit the frog was born  — or maybe ‘created’ is the right word — on May 9, 1955. Kermit has a special connection to Atlanta, that’s according to Vincent Anthony, the founder of the Center for Puppetry Arts. He, along with their artistic director Jon Ludwig, recently talked about it at the StoryCorps Atlanta booth.

The two long-time colleagues spoke about opening the center and the influence of Kermit’s creator, Jim Henson.

This story was recorded in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, which hosts Atlanta’s StoryCorps Booth
