The Righteous Brother Bill Medley Continues To Tour At 78 Years Old

Bill Medley has been touring for 55 years now and he doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. He is the last living band member from The Righteous Brothers.
His original singing partner, Bobby Hatfield, died in 2003. Medley continued to tour and sing as a soloist, but he was inspired to resurrect the band when he saw Bucky Heard performing at a concert a few years ago. The revitalized Righteous Brothers took to the stage in 2016 with all their classic tunes.
Heard has shared the stage with legends like Andy Williams and Glen Campbell. He was also honored as “Male Vocalist of the Year” by entertainment publications.
“You can’t replace Bobby Hatfield, he was one of kind, but I knew Bucky would be able to fill-in for Bobby pretty good. Real good actually,” said Medley about his new singing partner.
In his career, Medley has won a Grammy, Oscar, Golden Globe, American Music Award, and he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Allegedly, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” is the most played song in American radio history. It surpasses the Beatles’ song “Yesterday.” In the late 1980s, the Righteous Brothers’ topped the charts again with songs like: “The Time of My Life” and “Unchained Melody.”
These songs were made popular by movie classics “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost.”
“To have those hit songs in those hit movies, it was just remarkable. You couldn’t even wish that. It was unbelievable and our career was back bigger than ever,” said Medley. City Lights’ host Lois Reitzes spoke with Medley ahead of the Righteous Brothers’ concert on June 6 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.
