Aug. 13 marks the 120th birth anniversary of the master of suspense, English movie director Alfred Hitchcock.
At the height of his artistic, commercial and critical success he directed eight films in collaboration with the same brilliant composer Bernard Herrmann.
Hitchcock is widely considered one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. Over his career he directed over 50 feature films, spanning over six decades.
He was known for his cameo roles, and also for producing the television anthology, Alfred Hitchcock Presents. His first film “Rebecca” was nominated for eleven Oscars and won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Over all he amassed a total of 46 Oscar nominations and six wins.
