American Cancer Society: COVID-19 Has Big Impact On Patients, Caregivers, Nonprofit Operations
Earlier in the week, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp issued an executive order calling for all “high-risk” individuals to shelter in place due to the COVID-19 outbreak. That includes the elderly, those with chronic lung disease, those who are undergoing cancer treatment, those who have pending or positive coronavirus test results and those who have come in contact with a coronavirus patient.
Still, what resources are available for those who are classified as “high risk”? And what impact can this have on families, caregivers and the nonprofits that serve the immunocompromised?
On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look with Rose Scott,” Gary Reedy, CEO of the Atlanta-based American Cancer Society, and Dr. Len Lichtenfeld, ACS deputy chief medical officer, joined the program by phone to discuss the pandemic’s impact on patients, caregivers and ACS operations.
