Coronavirus Updates: Bars And Clubs Now Allowed To Open In Georgia With Restrictions

Last week, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced that bars and clubs would be allowed to open, with restrictions, on June 1.
Bars and clubs must meet 39 safety requirements in order to reopen, including limiting capacity to 35% of total occupancy and screening workers for symptoms.
Overall, gatherings of up to 25 people will also be allowed starting Monday, up from 10. This applies only if people can stay 6 feet apart.
Sports teams can begin training in Georgia as well. Kemp said the state has discussed the training question with major-league sports teams.
The elderly and medically fragile must shelter in place through June 12. The governor also extended the state of medical emergency through July 12.
This comes at the Georgia Department of Health confirmed more than 47,800 cases of coronavirus in the state and 2,089 deaths as of Monday evening.
Atlanta Mayor Extends City’s Hazard Pay
Atlanta will keep paying frontline city workers more money through Sept. 30.
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms issued an executive order Monday that extends the payment of an addition $500 a month to eligible Atlanta employees. It applies to more than 5,000 workers throughout the city.
The original order went into effector n March 30.
