About an hour and 20 minutes southwest of Atlanta is LaGrange, Georgia.
It is the county seat of Troup County and home to about 30,000 Georgians. And it’s made the New York Times recently for an outbreak of coronavirus.
The Times ranked it No. 2 in the nation for new deaths relative to its population and No. 4 in the nation for new cases relative to its population out of all metro areas in the U.S.
To combat the rise, officials have handed out 60,000 free masks. But its mayor, Jim Thornton, says masks aren’t the entire answer.
