It’s been a little over a week since students in the second-largest school district in Georgia returned to school virtually. But uncharted remote-learning territory has created unforeseen challenges.

Cobb County School District Superintendent Chris Ragsdale says the district is working to troubleshoot system login issues while juggling to make sure students have electronic devices to complete their school work remotely.

“It’s been a bumpy start,” Ragsdale said. “There’s no disagreeing with that; I don’t think anybody can say anything other than it’s been a bumpy start, for us in Cobb, and I know some of the other districts have had challenges some of them different, some of them the same.”

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look with Rose Scott,” Superintendent Ragsdale told Scott that despite Cobb’s bumpy start, he’s confident that teachers and students will get through the hurdles.

Ragsdale also talked about the district’s three-part phased reopening and the three metrics the district is closely monitoring to keep students and staff safe, before deciding to allow students to return to school for face-to-face instruction. He also shares his thoughts on what fall sports could look like for the district this year.
