Port Of Savannah Gains Record Growth In September

Port of Savannah officials say they’re maintaining a “record pace” for September.
The Georgia Ports Authority is recording an all-time volume this month in activity at the Savannah port.
This is despite a global pandemic and a less-than-stellar economy.
Officials say the GPA is expecting to move more than 400,000 20-foot equivalent container units this month.
With this success comes a projected growth of 5% compared to September of last year.
Some of the driving forces behind their success include an increase in e-commerce and a renewed demand for American-made export products. Both are helping to produce positive numbers.
Georgia’s deep-water ports and inland barge terminals support 439,000 jobs throughout the state.
