Lauren ‘Bubba’ McDonald On His PSC Runoff Election Victory

Lauren “Bubba” McDonald won the Georgia Public Service Commission District 4 runoff this week against his Democratic opponent, Daniel Blackman, after falling short of a majority in the November general election.
The Associated Press projected the incumbent McDonald as the winner Wednesday afternoon.
McDonald ran for the five-member utility regulator in a race that drew much less attention than Georgia’s two nationally watched U.S. Senate races. The Public Service Commission regulates the bills of the state’s privately-owned utilities.
Republicans will keep all five seats on the commission, where candidates represent districts but run statewide for six-year terms.
McDonald will represent a district that includes Augusta, Gainesville, Rome, and areas north of the state line.
He spoke to the host of WABE’s “Morning Edition,” Lisa Rayam, over the telephone about his election victory. McDonald said he is humbled and appreciative of his win and will continue to be a fair, independent, and conservative voice on the Public Service Commission.
