‘The 9th Art: Frames And Thought Bubbles’ Is An Encyclopedic Look Into Comic Book Art

Kennesaw State University’s School of Art and Design’s latest exhibition “The 9th Art: Frames and Thought Bubbles” provides an in-depth look into comics as an art form. The exhibition features a wide variety of different visual styles ranging from panels found in newspapers of the early 20th century to contemporary comic images.

Comics on view include Louise Simonson and June Brigman’s “Power Pack” from 1984, Winsor McCay’s “Little Nemo in Slumberland” from 1908, and Will Eisner’s “The Spirit” from 1949.

Artist and Kennesaw State professor Geo Sipp is the curator of the exhibition. He joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes for a conversation about the exhibition and the history of comic art.
