In Downtown Atlanta, on the corner of Peachtree Street, a new grocery store welcomes customers with a green and white sign that reads “Azalea Fresh Market.”

Inside, shelves are stocked by employees as shoppers explore the aisles labeled with glowing white signs attached to bright orange poles.

“So, it is 100% a food desert,” said Michael Fogarty, Chief Operating Officer of the new establishment, when describing the market’s location.
