Shortly following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, local Atlanta Young Republicans met for a happy hour. Kirk’s killing hit the group hard, Vice President for Political Affairs Seth Daniels told WABE’s “Morning Edition.”

Daniels said one of the things he’s always been proud of is that the club has always been a place for open and respectful debate, even between fellow Republicans.

Daniels tells WABE that while he didn’t necessarily agree with everything Kirk preached during his infamous debates across college campuses. Kirk created non-traditional career paths in politics for many through the organization he co-founded: Turning Point USA, and later its sister organization and political advocacy arm, Turning Point Action.
