Seventy-five years after the end of World War II, the remaining number of Holocaust survivors is small.  Atlantan Robert Ratonyi is one of those survivors. At age 83, he’s written a memoir titled, “From Darkness Into Light: My Journey Through Nazism, Fascism, and Communism to Freedom.”

The memoir recounts Ratonyi’s time in Nazi-occupied Hungary, bearing witness to the horrors of the Holocaust. After the war, Ratonyi’s adolescent years were spent under the rule of the Stalinist regime in Hungary. In 1956 he managed to escape into neighboring Austria, ending up immigrating to Canada in 1957.

Robert Ratonyi joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk about his new memoir and his harrowing journey to freedom.
