Democratic state Rep. Ruwa Romman made history in 2022 as the first Palestinian-American and Muslim woman to be elected to the Georgia legislature. Now, she tells WABE’s “Morning Edition” that she hopes to emerge as the frontrunner in the crowded Georgia governor’s race.

That includes the likes of former DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, former state Sen. Jason Esteves and former Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, who is now running as a Democrat.

Romman tells WABE she sees herself mobilizing in the crowded field.
