Jazz Artist Joe Gransden And His 16 Piece Orchestra Perform Live, In-Person Concerts This Weekend

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the income of performing artists. Unemployment has been staggering as theaters, concert halls, and clubs shut down because social distancing was impossible. Things have since improved now that many Americans are vaccinated and some live performances are resuming.
Joe Gransden and his big band will perform together for the first time since before the pandemic. The jazz trumpeter and singer joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes via Zoom to talk about this weekend’s performances.
“It’s fantastic music with great melodies, great harmonies, great rhythms. Everything is in this music that makes it wonderful,” said Gransden. He will be performing classics from crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Gene Austin, as well as songs by Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett.

Gransden will perform with his big band on May 7 and May 9. Friday’s concert will be outdoors at The Oak Street Bottle Shop in Roswell. Sunday’s “Mother’s Day” concert is at Napoleon’s in Decatur. A list of his upcoming shows can be found here.
