Filmmaker Jason Orr’s work documenting Atlanta’s cultural history extends far beyond tonight’s screening of his restored documentary “FunkJazz Kafé: Diary of A Decade (The Story Of A Phenomenon)” at the Tara Theatre.

Over the past two decades, Orr has created a body of work that chronicles Black creative ecosystems, from mayoral leadership to jazz innovation to the evolution of soul music in commercial markets.

His latest project, an AI-assisted restoration of footage from the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival, is part of that larger archival mission.
