Inaugural Trifoliate Awards Created To Honor Culinary Excellence In The South

The Trifoliate Awards have been created as an ongoing annual series to honor culinary excellence in the American South. The first-time annual awards are meant to celebrate and give a platform to the leading voices who have emerged during the challenging time of the pandemic. Daren Wang is a producer of the Trifoliate Awards, along with John Kessler. Wang, along with Chef Nicolas Bour joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk about the dinner series.

Each award dinner will be held at the Farmhouse at Serenbe, starting Sept. 19 with Chef Günter Seeger. Each of the chef’s menues will focus on a sense of place, with many of the ingredients harvested from Serenbe. Chef Bour will assist each of the featured chefs and help design the dinner experience, with help from noted artist Kristin Genet. There will be signature cocktails, wine pairings, as well as art performances at each of the events.

“So what we really wanted to do was give the spotlight to people who are coming up and have serious chops, no pun intended,” said Bour. He continued, “Chefs is a very tight-knit community, I guess we all see ourselves as brethren, in most cases. And Atlanta has a particularly close group of chefs; I think we all respect each other and try to look out for each other.”

The chefs honored at the award ceremony are: 

  • Günter Seeger- Sept. 19
  • David Sweeney and Claudia Martinez- Oct. 17
  • Parnass Savang- Nov. 14
  • Brian So- Jan. 23
  • Joey Ward- Feb. 20

The Trifoliate Award Dinners will help fund “This Postage Stamp of Native Soil”, a film project exploring the history of the Chattahoochee Hills.
