Georgia ice storm caused thousands of power outages in metro Atlanta

Another wave of precipitation rolled through metro Atlanta on Sunday afternoon, and widespread power outages and flight cancellations mounted as a winter storm continued to affect the region.

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said. “Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages.”
