Rajeev Dhawan, a professor and director of the Economic Forecasting Center at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, says economists often look at consumer confidence and consumer sentiment to get a better idea about spending patterns.
On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Dhawan talked with show host Rose Scott about the impact of the COVID-19 delta variant on Georgia’s economy.
“Now what we are seeing is that as the virus comes back, as it resurges, people cut back on activities that require human contact,” explained Dhawan.
He further explained how things like less traveling and fewer gatherings for in-person actives contribute to less spending and shared how COVID hospitalizations impact the economy.
