Georgia Rental Assistance Program Expands Eligibility For $550 Million In Federal Aid

At this time, more than 8 million Americans are behind on their rent, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to lift the eviction moratorium puts many Georgians at risk of losing their homes, but there is federal rental assistance available to renters who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tonya Cureton Curry, deputy commissioner of housing for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs joined “Morning Edition” to talk about the specifics of the program and explain how Georgians can apply.
